THE Hotel To Stay At When Vacationing in Disney!

 Are you planning a getaway to Disney and looking to get the most bang for your buck? Well look no further and let me suggest to you a fantastic place to stay that is not only close to Disney, but is also right off of 1-4 as well (the major highway in Orlando).  The hotel is the Springhill Suites Marriott.  I should already have you hooked by the word Suite, especially if you are looking to getaway with your girlfriends and looking to save money.  Here is just a few reasons why I think this hotel is superb;

  • There is a small kitchenette in the room (although no microwave), this is fabulous for us recessionistas since there are two grocery stores (Goodings and Publix) conveniently located near the hotel.  This allows you to get snacks drinks, and even stuff to make sandwiches that you can take with you into the park and save a little extra cash.
  • If you have a AAA card or go onto hotels.com you can get this awesome hotel for as little as $67 a night.
  • In addition to this, you can get two double beds and in the living area, there is a sleep sofa, so you can at least get 5 maybe 6 (if you really like the people you are rooming with and don’t mind being a little squishy or are not like me and sleep with your legs every which way) people comfortably in the room.
  • In addition, in the sofa room there is another tv, which is great for those that may not go to bed as early as others and want to stay up a little bit more.
  • The toiletries are located right inside the bathroom and at arms reach.  I lurved this particularly since I tend to be that person that always forgets to bring something into the bathroom and this kept me from having to embarrass myself and yell out to someone to grab my bathy things.
  • Hello, there are SIX FULL-SIZED TOWELS, in the bathroom, does it get any better then that?
  • Many of the rooms have balconies (don’t be afraid to request a room with one), which is nice after a long day at the park and you can just put your tootsies up.
  • There are three hotels in a semi-circle in this area and also an eatery complete with pizza hut and a starbucks for us late night munchers.  This is also a benefit since you don’t have to hoof it on the main road and walk somewhere unfamiliar at night just to get a snack.
  • Did I mention the killer location? Right off of I-4, a hop skip and a jump to Downtown Disney, there is a Bahama Breeze within walking distance oh and and OUTLET CENTER, that’s right ladies, I said outlet center…complete with a Coach, Banana Republic, Cosmetic Company, Ann Taylor and much much more.
  • There is also a Queen Mary Church that seems to be a local favorite in case you are one of those people that don’t like to miss church even when on a vacation.
  • With this, comes a tip; when Sunday rolls around and you are planning to leave the hotel for whatever reason, you MUST plan around church…either wake up your travel buddies super early and get out before church begins or wake up leisurely enjoy the FREE continental breakfast and leave the hotel after 1pm.  Since the hotel is located across the street from the church it is nearly impossible to get out.
  •  Oh yes my friends, there is a FREE continental breakfast in the morning complete with waffles, oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, fruit, tea, coffee, etc.  Personally, I like to take a couple pieces of fruit and put them in my backpack to stow away for later…I might partake in the cereal to for a midday snack.

 The best part of this hotel is the over accommodating staff that goes out of their way to make your day “Disney Magical.”  My father passed away in September and this was always “our” hotel, so it’s especially hard for my mother and me to come back to this hotel without him.  Every couple of months we stay here (yes, we love Disney that much and NO the Pea and I never tire of it) and the staff makes sure that they acquire us a great room complete with a balcony for my mother and away from the elevators, but not to far, since it can get kind of noisy.  It’s fantastic to have a hotel that goes out of their way to make guests comfortable and happy. They even handle any issue, such as noisy neighbors promptly and personally rather then calling the guests by phone and hoping they quiet down (not that I have ever had that problem…tee hee).  I highly suggest that when considering a trip to Disney with the girls that this hotel is put on the top of your list of considerations…

 Have a Magical Vacation and tell Amanda who is a fabulous manager there that the Traveling Peas sent you!
